Trusted general of Sertorius during the Sertorian War in Hispania.
He seems to have joined
Sertorius, when he left for Spain in 82 BCE. During the Sertorian War, he was very successful against the
Romans initially. He held off Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius as well as the
governor, Domitius. However, in 76 BCE, when Pompey joined Metellus
in Spain as a commander of Roman forces. He was defeated by Metellus at Italica in 76 BCE,
and in 75 BCE he was killed in battle at Segovia, near modern Cordoba. When Sertorius heard of his death, he was
so distraught that he killed the messenger.
