Sextus Julius Caesar

The uncle of the famous Gaius Julius Caesar, during his consulship, the Social War began.


He was praetor in 94 BCE and consul in 91 BCE. In 90 BCE, he celebrated triumph and was proconsul. He died while laying siege to the city of Asculum, the first Italian city to rise up against Rome during the Social War.
