A Gallic gladiator and leader in the Third Servile War
In 73 BCE, Crixus helped to lead a revolt at the gladiatorial training school in Capua alongside
Spartacus and Oenomaus. About 70 gladiators escaped.
This original force gradually gained suppport from other escaped slaves as well as the poor.
At some point, towards the end of 73 BCE, Crixus and some 30,000 soldiers separated from Spartacus
and the main body of soldiers. In 72 BCE, he was killed in a conflict near Mount Garganus.
