Hiempsal

Son of Micipsa and rival to Jugurtha for the Numidian throne. He was assassinated by agents of Jugurtha.

Micipsa, the king of Numidia, was succeeded by his three sons: Adherbal, Hiempsal, and Jugurtha. Hiempsal, the youngest son, was “naturally haughty” and did not regard Jugurtha, whom Micipsa had adopted, as an equal, and he moved to remove him from his position of power. Jugurtha ordered his soldiers to attack Hiempsal. He was killed, and his head was brought to Jugurtha.
